Good news, folks! Smile has upgraded our billing system to the latest version, and rolled out a new look to our client area. This is more of a temporary face-lift while we continue to update things on the backend and prepare for the launch of our new unified website.

The next step will be moving the entire billing system to a new and improved server platform.

Stay tuned!

Infrastructure Improvements

September 3, 2015 in Smile News by admin  |  No Comments

We are excited to announce that Smile Global is hard at work phasing out our legacy servers, and moving our core services to a brand new infrastructure. This has started with email migration to our new and improved mail system — which has some pretty neat features we know you will enjoy. Namely, all management related to your email service can be done from the new webmail interface (including spam filtering, mailbox/forwarding administration, deleted message recovery, and large file storage!)

Customers with their own domain name currently hosted by Smile can expect to hear from us soon regarding scheduling a time to migrate you to the new platform. Once completed you will have your own custom webmail URL (http://webmail.yourdomain.com)

We’ve also began migrating customer websites to the latest and greatest version of our Web Hosting Control Panel on brand new hardware.

A few other upcoming improvements to expect:
1. DNS Control Panel — Integration with our Portal/Billing system –Coming Soon!
2. New look and simplified website — Consolidation of billing.smileglobal.com + smileglobal.com –Coming Soon!

Stay tuned for updates!

Service Disruption — DDoS Attack

February 7, 2015 in Server Status by admin  |  Comments Off on Service Disruption — DDoS Attack

We experienced a major DDoS attack yesterday on our DNS Infrastructure which led to a number of issues for Smile Subscribers — including:

1. Slow webpage load times
2. Slow/intermittent email issues
3. The following sites were also unavailable during this time: smileglobal.com, status.smileglobal.com. and billing.smileglobal.com

This issue has been addressed, and the vulnerable DNS servers have been replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration many of you likely experienced.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
